Bollywood vibe set to grip the Joburg Theatre

APassage to Bollywood, a vibrant stage musical with foot-tapping music, colourful costumes and a gripping plot that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, is about to hit the Joburg Theatre, one of the City of Johannesburg’s foremost entertainment venues.
 

Coming as it does hot on the heels of the highly-acclaimed Nigerian musical Kakadu, A Passage to Bollywood promises to be another blockbuster. Direct from India, the musical covers various aspects of the Bollywood culture, which is known for old classics as well as the latest songs and dances.

The audience can expect a lot of drama, action, romance and lots of high-energy dancing Bollywood movies are famous for.

Ashley Lobo, the artistic director and choreographer of the show, is one of Bollywood’s most-creative movie producers.

Do yourself a favour by going to watch this hour-long entertainment capsule of music and dance, which cuts across all genres and is guaranteed to engage and entertain audiences of all shapes and sizes from Wednesday June 21. The show runs until Sunday July 9 and the tickets are available at between R160 and R350 per person.

Meanwhile, the theatre will on Saturday June 24 host an Africa Goombay Open Dance class-cum-workshop, which is open to youth and adults with or without dance experience.

Africa Goombay offers its participants a narrative and an experience of different African dance styles – from traditional elements to modern influences. Organised by DANCEunLimited, the class will be co-facilitated by the globetrotting African dance and fitness teacher Coach Cass of Ghana.
