01 June 2015

Party to the sounds of Chaka Khan and Louie Vega and experience a culinary adventure with masterchef's Pete Goffe-Wood including food network celebrity chefs Jenny Morris, Siba Mtongana and Reza Mahammad at the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, presented by Nedbank at Midrand's Waterfall Polo Estate, Johannesburg on Saturday 6 June.

Multiple award winning Queen of Funk Chaka Khan and the godfather of the house music scene “Little” Louie Vega are the headline acts at the Festival.

South Africa’s biggest food and music extravaganza returns to Jozi with sizzling entertainment and an even bigger focus this year on food and all things culinary. The Delicious restaurant will be hosted by MasterChef SA judge Pete Goffe-Wood with live demonstrations and exciting cook-offs at the Food Network pavilion by Food Network celebrity chefs Reza Mohammad, Siba Mtongana and Jenny Morris.

The organisers of DStv Delicious, VWV Massive – the music festival for food lovers and the food festival for music lovers – will be bringing festival patrons fresh, locally produced food in a gourmet food market while at the same time showcasing some mouth-watering new finds in food, street-chefs, food trucks and delectable trends.

There’s food inspired by cultures from around the globe to appeal to all tastes from gourmets to those who just enjoy their nosh! As Festival Director Lloyd Cornwall says “If it’s got something to do with the kitchen then it’s got something to do with Delicious.”

Chaka Khan is the iconic American diva whose vocal career has spanned four decades and her performances are must-see events for any fans of funk, soul, R&B, disco or jazz. The American musical treasure is a 10-time Grammy winner whose 70 million records sold worldwide have catapulted her career into stratospheres of mythic proportions with songs such as Tell Me Something Good, I'm Every Woman, and Ain't Nobody.

“DStv is excited and honoured to be the first to bring an iconic woman such as Chaka Khan to our shores, in almost two decades. Our subscribers can attest to the fact that she has been the soundtrack to their childhoods and many more memories. To see her live, surely is a life long dream for many.”, says Colleen Goodman, Head of Retention for DStv.

A godfather of global house music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul. What distinguishes the Grammy winner and four-time nominee as one of the best living house music deejays is his ability to evolve alongside the times, distill the current musical landscape through his unique taste and put his own timeless spin on it.

Peter Goffe-Wood is one of South Africa’s most recognisable celebrity chefs. The king of the kitchen has done his time in some of the best restaurants in the country and abroad. This gastronomic guru for South African foodies recently released his book A Life Digested, part memoir and part cookbook, loaded with funny anecdotes of his own cheffing adventures.

Food Network Celebrity Chef and Ambassador Jenny Morris – AKA The Giggling Gourmet – is one of SA’s most-loved food personalities. Her ongoing love affair with food started in her childhood year, when she started making mouth-watering treats for school fundraisers. “It’s a love affair in the true sense of the word, one that employs all the senses”

Siba Mtongana, a young and dynamic food enthusiast, brought style and charisma to the hugely popular cooking show called Cooking with Siba, on MNet’s Mzansi Magic. She holds a degree in Food and Consumer Sciences, majoring in Food and Food Science as well as Nutrition. She specialises in recipe development, food writing and styling and has won three prestigious Galliova Awards for her food journalism and involvement in the South African food arena. Her first television series as a Food Network Celebrity Chef, Siba’s Table, has achieved both local and international acclaim with a second series of Siba’s Table presently in the pipeline.

Reza, another favourite Food Network Celebrity Chef calls himself a ‘hybrid torn between two worlds’, due to the combination of his Indian upbringing and British education. Reza entered into the world of cookery at age 16 when he took over the running of the family business, The Star of India Restaurant. Whilst he is primarily an Indian cuisine chef, Reza believes in experimenting with different foods and ingredients from around the world. His love of adding new flavours and dimensions to his traditional dishes has earned him the title of ‘the Prince of Spice’.
