Council employees roll up their sleeves to clean up Joburg

Adedicated team of volunteers braved early morning rains over two days to flash placards urging fellow City of Joburg employees to join a staff-driven A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign.

 

Between singing and ululating, the placard-waving team urged their colleagues to put on overalls, gloves and hats, and spread out for two hours cleaning around the workplaces.

Now that the D-Day has come, hundreds of City of Joburg employees are expected to participate in a two-hour clean-up campaign today, 9 February 2018, at the Metro Centre and across all the City’s 103 buildings in the seven regions.

Executive Mayor Cllr Herman Mashaba initiated the citywide A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign last year to get rid of the grime and crime and attract much-need investment into Joburg.

He is expected to lead from the front today joined by Member of the Mayoral Committee for Group Corporate and Shared Services, Cllr Ntombi Khumalo. 

Today’s staff-driven A Re Sebetseng is expected to become a monthly event during which City of Joburg employees and those from municipal-owned entities dedicate at least two hours on the third Wednesday of the month to clean in all of Jozi’s seven regions.
