19 February 2016

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, Johannesburg Executive Mayor Councillor Parks Tau and a high-profile government delegation will rub shoulders with the youth at the Youth Development Expo at the Soweto campus of the University of Johannesburg tomorrow (Saturday February 20) and inspire them to achieve great things.

The aim of the expo is to create a valuable opportunity for the youth to access information on further education, funding for such education, learnerships, internships, bursaries, life skills, employment opportunities and information technology. Youth who have dropped out of school but are interested in entrepreneurship will also benefit.

“The expo is designed to ensure maximum exposure of young people to life-changing information they may not easily have access to,” said Presidency Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa.

Other issues to be covered during the expo include the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse, the importance of HIV prevention and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

Other dignitaries will include Women and Children Minister Susan Shabangu; Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Siyabonga Cwele; Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant; Small Business Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu; Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation Deputy Minister in the Presidency Buti Manamela; Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana; Social Development Deputy Minister Henrietta Bogopane-Zulu, Communications Deputy Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, as well as Gauteng MEC for Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
