Funnyman David Kau takes MoJokes to Soweto Theatre

Do you want to laugh out loud or laugh your lungs out?

Then the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani is the place to be for you this weekend.

David Kau, one of South Africa’s leading and most hilarious comedians, is taking his friends to the majestic theatre on Friday and Saturday for long periods of pure entertainment in celebration of his 37th birthday. 
 

The comedy icon will be in the company of some of his funniest friends – Kagiso Lediga, Skhumba and many more.

Dubbed MoJokes, the two shows promise loads of laughs and fun. 

“Though David is no stranger to the Soweto Theatre, we expect it to be packed to the rafters for two nights of jokes and laughter. He will definitely make this weekend a memorable one for his fans and new followers,” says Sindi Mnguni of Kau Productions.

Kau, who was born on April 18, 1978, is a University of Cape Town drama studies graduate. 
 

He is also a prolific writer, producer, director and consummate filmmaker.

He made his debut as a stand-up comedian at the 1998 Smirnoff Comedy Festival in Cape Town – the first black comic to grace the event.

“I had never had experience in stand-up comedy,” recalls Kau. “The first comedy show I ever saw was the first one I was in.”

So much has happened since, with Kau headlining many local and international comedy festivals.
 

The Pure Monate and Blacks Only shows have made this well-travelled comedian a household name in South Africa. 

Be prepared to be tickled fancy at Soweto’s theatre of dreams.

The two shows both start at 8pm. Tickets cost between R120 and R200. They are available from Computicket and all Shoprite and Checkers stores.
