Joburg launches the “#IKnowMyJoburg” campaign
22 October 2015
The City of Johannesburg today (Wednesday 21) launched the “#IKnowMyJoburg” campaign which seeks to engage the residents of the City, especially the youth on what service delivery the City offers the community.
The campaign, which runs for a week, will get young people of Johannesburg taking pictures of whatever they see as service delivery in their communities and writing a positive caption when posting and tagging it on the City’s social media accounts, using the #IKnowMyJoburg. Young people will be encouraged to follow the City’s twitter account @CityofJoburgZA for the campaign and individuals who are actively engaging with the campaign stand a chance to win double tickets to the #FillUpTheDome concert, VIP style.
To get young people participating in the campaign, the City of Johannesburg will place radio adverts on YFM, UJ FM & VoW (Voice of Wits) to engage their audiences to take pictures in their communities of what they see as service delivery that the City has offered. Through this campaign, the City hopes to create awareness about the good work (service delivery) that the City of Johannesburg is doing and get young people to get involved in other great initiatives by the City, such as Vulindlel’ejozi, Jozi@Work, digital ambassadors – just to name a few.
Involving the youth and providing them with knowledge about what service delivery entails also exposes our future leaders to available career opportunities in the local government sector.
At the end of the campaign, the City will gather all the pictures submitted and choose seven winners with a partner, who have captured the best pictures with equally inspiring captions.
