Joburg Market CEO dismissed

The Joburg Market CEO Simangele Sekgobela, who has been on suspension for some time, has been dismissed following an disciplinary inquiry into irregular procurement processes. The disciplinary process against Ms Sekgobela has been finalised.

 

The Board at a meeting held on 14 December 2015 received and considered the finding and award against Ms Simangele Sekgobela. The Joburg Market’s board of directors upheld the inquiry’s verdict of a summary dismissal. 
Ms Sekgobela’s service with the Joburg Market, which dates back to 1 May 2013, has been terminated.

Mr Josiah Mazibuko will continue in an acting capacity as an acting CEO. The board will begin the process of recruiting a new CEO in the New Year.
