Joburg’s “I Know Joburg” Campaign gains momentum

04 March 2016

The City of Johannesburg’s I “Know My Joburg” campaign continues to engage with the residents of the City, especially the youth on what service delivery the City offers the community.

The campaign, which kicks off today, March 4 and runs for two weeks, in which young people of Johannesburg take pictures of whatever they see as service delivery in their respective communities and explain how it impacts their everyday life by using the hashtag I Know My Joburg.

Young people will be encouraged to follow the City’s social media accounts for the campaign and individuals who are actively engaging with the campaign stand a chance to win double tickets to the Nicki Minaj concert in Johannesburg, VIP style.

To get young people participating in the campaign, the City of Johannesburg will place radio adverts on YFM, UJ FM & VoW and run the competition on the city’s social media accounts.

Through this campaign, the City hopes to create awareness about the good work (service delivery) that the City of Johannesburg is doing and get young people to get involved in other great initiatives by the City, such as Vulidlel’ejozi, Jozi@Work, digital ambassadors – just to name a few.

Involving the youth and providing them with knowledge about what service delivery entails also expose our future leaders to available career opportunities in the local government sector. At the end of the campaign, the City will gather all the pictures submitted and choose thirteen winners who have captured the best pictures with equally inspiring captions.
