Loco Dice, international DJ extraordinaire and social media sensation, wants to explore Johannesburg and experience everything the city has to offer during his forthcoming five-day visit to South Africa.
A German of Tunisian descent, Loco Dice is well known for his vibrant and record-breaking sets.
With a social media following of almost two million people, Loco Dice is currently spearheading a fundraising drive initiated by Bridges for Music, an international non-profit making organisation that seeks to improve the living conditions of the poor and break down racial, social and cultural barriers through electronic music globally.
Bridges for Music also grants scholarships in the creative arts industry and media space, with at least 15 students having benefited so far.
The organisation also provides local talent with access to the international electronic music scene. It has taken eight individuals from various parts of the world to the Glastonbury Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event and Tomorrowland in Belgium – all highlights of the international electronic music and dance calendar.
Loco Dice’s South African fundraising drive starts on Friday February 6 in Gugulethu in Cape Town and winds up on Tuesday February 10 in Johannesburg.
His tour will include a live performance and two workshops in Kliptown, Soweto, on Sunday.
Local artists who have come out in support include Black Coffee, Shimza, Vinny da Vinci, Da Capo, Jullian Gomes, Ryan Murgatroyd and a host of others.
On Monday the artist and the Bridges for Music crew will undertake a tour of Johannesburg, visiting iconic places such as the Apartheid Museum, FNB Stadium and Orlando Cooling Towers, where they will take part in bungee jumping before having lunch at Chaf Pozi, a traditional shisa nyama restaurant at the foot of the towers.
They will round off their event-filled and hectic day with a visit to Vilakazi Street in Orlando West, Soweto. Here they will visit Mandela House and the Hector Pietersen Memorial.
The following day the group will travel to the Lion Park. Also on the agenda is a visit to Liliesleaf Farm and lunch at the SAB World of Beer in Newtown.
Loco Dice and his entourage will also visit tourist attractions such Constitution Hill, Mary Fitzgerald Square, Market Theatre, Newtown Junction, Carlton Centre and Gandhi Square before making a stop at Arts of Main.
