Mayor Mashaba returns to Orange Farm

29 September 2016

Johannesburg Executive Mayor Cllr Herman Mashaba will return to Orange Farm on Monday 3 October to address residents on a wide range of issues, a week after an unruly mob disrupted a scheduled community meeting at the Orange Farm Multipurpose Community Centre.

When he arrived at the centre on Monday afternoon, Mayor Mashaba found the hall had been flooded and rubbish strewn all over the venue. Although a number of residents were already in the hall waiting to be addressed by the Mayor, the meeting could not continue. But Mayor Mashaba vowed he would return to address the residents.

“This is a community that has been neglected for far too long and I wanted to speak to them in person and hear first-hand some of the pressing issues they are facing.

“I plan to return to Orange Farm soon to hear what their grievances and ensure that they are attended to. I am committed to running a caring administration in Johannesburg. I wish to assure the residents of Orange Farm that I will not be intimidated,” the Mayor said at the time.

Next week’s meeting will be held at the Chris Hall Community Hall, 15751 Link Road, Orange Farm, at 4pm.
The meeting will discuss land, housing and service delivery issues.
