Mayor sends condolences to Diepsloot family

The City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor, Cllr. Parks Tau has expressed sadness at the tragic news of a recovery of the body of six-year-old, Angel Sibanda of Diepsloot, on Sunday, 28 February 2016.

 

The news comes days after it was initially reported that the little girl was spotted drowning in a river near her home in Diepsloot on Thursday. The child was swept away while attempting to cross a flooded river.

The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services had been hard at work searching for the child since Thursday and giving updates on the search.

“My heart goes out to the little girl’s parents, who had gone for days without knowing their child’s whereabouts,” Mayor Tau said.

“This is a very painful incident that needs the community of Johannesburg, particularly in Diepsloot, to stand together in support of the family during this difficult time of their loss. My sincere condolences to the Sibanda family,” he said.
