Mother of all parties to wrap up EcoMobility Fest

The month-long EcoMobility World Festival, which has introduced Johannesburg citizens to the mobility of the future, will be played out with a top-drawer and star-studded music concert in West Street, Sandton, on Saturday October 31.
The free concert – featuring highly acclaimed musicians such as DJ Black Coffee and Mafikizolo – forms part of the Eco-Block Party, a potpourri of festivities, fun and entertainment to mark the last day of the global showpiece.
Other entertainers who will grace the mouth-watering event are DJ Sliqe, TLT Hip Hop, beatbox extraordinaire George Avakian, comedian Deep Fried Man and Africa Pop’s Tressor.Sports fans will also be able to watch the Soweto Derby – between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs – as well as the much-anticipated Rugby World Cup final between defending champions New Zealand and Australia live on high definition big TV screens.
“Join us for the ultimate Sandton street life party to celebrate the wrap-up of the highly successful and positive month-long Ecomobility World Festival.
“With a jam-packed entertainment lineup, the Eco-Block Party guarantees an ideal day out for the whole family to experience the vibrancy of Sandton street life,” said the City of Johannesburg’s Member of the Mayoral Committee for Transport, Cllr Christine Walters.
The programme starts at noon and winds up at 8pm.
“We are extremely proud of what the month-long Ecomobility World Festival has achieved. It has provided a valuable platform to change people’s perceptions on alternative modes of transport and has also seen an increase in the appreciation of easier movements, lively streets, walking, secure and easy cycling as well as the use of public transport,” MMC Walters said.
Free park ‘n ride facilities are available at George Lea and Innes Free parks.
