Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Joburg kicks off

Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Johannesburg started off on a high note, with the bass heavy rhythms of ragga kicking off this music-packed weekend which features 60 artists over 4 days and 7 venues.

 

With the historic Bassline hosting the first evening, more than a 1000 people packed into the venue for a night filled with deep music, nonstop dancing and bass–ladened energy

Warming up the venue was the African Storm Soundsystem, with a set that included many favourites, both old school and new. Thanks to their infectious energy, the crowd was heaving and singing along. The energy stepped up a notch when Admiral & Jahseed came on stage.

Raw and relentless, the Admiral’s selection had the crowd in a frenzy with Jahseed’s adlibs bringing them up even more. Adding more flair to this special night were the Admiral’s special guests including resident dancehall dancers wowing the crowds with their high energy, body breaking moves and MCs freestyling over dubplates.

As the night drew to a close, the dancefloor was still heaving with the crowds eager to stay for just one more song and excited for the rest of the weekend to come.
